IDEO Questions
Where is IDEO? Palo Alto, CA
Who is the founder? David Kelley
Who is on the team, what are the roles? There are a number of people on the team, all different (Harvard MBA, psychologist, linguist...) there is no boss, second-in-command, etc. Everyone is equal.
What is the deep dive process? Day one, they went out and found more information about shopping carts - repair, average cart life, and such. Day two, "focused chaos" ensues and then they narrow down some of the ideas they have come up with. "Enlightened trial and error". They build mock-ups based on four criteria: shopping, safety, checkout, and finding what you're looking for.
What are the rules (mantra) written on the walls around? Stay focused, encourage wild ideas, defer judgement, build on the ideas of others, think of your product in terms of verbs rather than nouns, be visual, concentrate on one conversation at a time, go for quantity (no editing).
What is the motto? Fail often in order to succeed sooner.
How can this process work in your major? will answer this later
